About Mexico!

Hola amigos!

I am going to talk about Mexico! I decided to choose to talk about Mexico because I'm 27% Spanish, or at least I think so. I also chose it because I know that Mexico was once colonised by Spain, same thing happened to my country, Philippines, but it's todo bien now (all good). Okay, let's talk about Mexico now.

Mexico is located below USA, in North America. The climates are extremely diverse, the more northern parts of Mexico are usually cold and dry, while the southern parts of Mexico are more warm and tropical. All four seasons exist in Mexico, from June to October, which is from summer to fall, hurricanes are pretty common in Mexico, so watch out...

There are around 119.5 million people in Mexico, but the population is changing so there's no really telling how many people live in the moment. You might think that Spanish is Mexico's official language, but it's not, although it's a widely spoken language in Mexico. Most people would be Mestizaje (Native Mexican and European), some would be native too, and a whole bunch of other people from different culture backgrounds.

There public holidays in Mexico, too. There are 14 holidays in Mexico, one being Independence Day. Mexico faced the Americans and lost, but ever since Mexico had the Independence Moment, they now celebrate the day of Mexico's 'birth' as it being its own country, it is celebrated on the 16th of September.

The flag.

Look at its flag.

The national icons of this flag are red, green, & white. Those are just the colours, green represents the Independence Movement, the white strip is the representative of purity, in Catholic Faith. Red shows the Spaniards that joined the quest for independence and is also the sign of the blood of the heroes. The emblem-shield symbolises the Aztec heritage. According to legend, the gods had advised the Aztecs that the place where they should establish their city was to be identified when they saw an eagle, on a prickly pear tree. It was eating a serpent. They saw this mythical eagle on a marshy lake that is now the main plaza in Mexico City. This flag was created in 1821, when the Independence movement had ended victoriously.

The currency of Mexico is a Mexican Peso, the 'peso' part is familiar to me because the Philippines' currency Peso as well.

Anyways, that's all for now, adios!
