Waikowhai's fun day - wheels day

Image
Hey there everyone. Two days ago fun times were rolling by. That time it was wheels day. In wheels day we can have mufti clothes that is wearing other t-shirts, singlets and shorts or pants rather than school uniform. However, you have to donate a gold coin for that. The activities were of course riding on your wheels, people who don't have wheels or want to try something else, there's yellow trolleys. The yellow trolleys have their own space which down the slope that leads to the back of Te Waka Ako. The other activities require water, the so called Slip'n'slide and swimming in the pool. We also had relax time and playing board games. I liked this day because we get to have a chance to take a break. Here's a picture to show what it looked like.

Favourite moment - moving to Te Waka Ako

Image
Hey there again. From the very start of the year we have moved to a new structure called Te Waka Ako. At first it was eye-opening. But since it's almost end of the school year we got used to it. In this structure there is 4 spaces. Orange, blue, kakariki green and yellow. Three of them are classes. It is a big building but green was the smallest while blue was spread far across. They had cubbyholes to put bags in while the shoes have smaller cubicles. The building made things easier provided and more space for the senior syndicate. Blog you later

Gala day - Reflecting on De bono thinking hats

Hey there. Over the past few weeks on Saturday was celebration day. Before gala day everyone was advertising to get an audience and rehearsing to prepare and make it a bit catchy for the people. But back in celebration day, it needs tickets for basically everything, excluding cultural performances, and you have pay for tickets. I learned I have to be catchy by smiling and my dad was videoing. I thought he was ridiculous. The time was 10:30 am - 3.00 pm. If you saw the previous post, there was a stall of soap. There was tote bags and recycled paper also. There more like bouncy castles, where you play there for 5 minutes and Slip'n'slide that requires togs. So happened after for us was a slideshow to complete and add photos in. To complete you have to reflect on each De Bono thinking hat. The thinking hats have questions for us to write about celebration day. To get the pictures we have go to our site and find the folders in the gallery. Taking pictures was great because I c

Gala day - soapy business

Image
Hey there, blogging world. Over the past two terms we had to advertise for our gala day. We've been advertising and processing soap, making posters, and wrapping as well. We put lots of effort doing it online and also by hand, which in that case includes soap and gala posters. Doing it by hand wasn't really a challenge, but rather time-consuming. What's fun is that you create anything and sometimes listening to music depending on your conditions or the whole class. Putting a lot of effort took a lot of time also, colouring was a challenge because I could mess things up with pastels. Now, up to the soap. We had lots of soap but not a lot of individual scents. The process was grating citrus fruit (lemons, oranges and tangerines were used) and melting glycerine/Shea butter/goat milk for 25-30 seconds, mixing the base and citrus together, moulding them and let them rest and solidify. It only took minutes really. The reason we make this mind-blowing soap is that most soap

Maths - Budgeting on a NZ journey [ Full ]

Hey there.  If you know the previous post I made a quick peek of a slide, now it's the whole one. So what I had to do is complete tasks in each slides using a $500 budget a day (quite a lot compared to totals of activities). We combine the total of our cost of the trip, choose our car/camper-van rental, choose our hotels (however, camper-van rental mean s you have to go on camping sites or else you can go to a hotel). I learned that it needs a lot of effort. I don't find any challenges, but I found a slide very time-consuming. It's the slide that involves a calculator if really needed, all rides from one to another. It also made it hard for slides for each "mini trip" of the total, since it's around the beginning. My favourite slides are all the activities in Rotorua, because they look enjoyable in my perceptive view. Here's the slideshow of budgeting. Please feel free to comment. Blog you later. 😀😃

Maths - Budgeting on a NZ Journey

Image
Hey there, blogging world. For the past two weeks there are some budgeting going on for maths. It is presented by a slideshow. Our task was to travel from the bottom the south island all the way up to the top of the North.  Most slides involve maths and certain calculations about budgeting for our daily activities we had to do along the way. . There are some challenges going on also. Especially when checking for the cost and time of the planes and car/camper-van rental hire. The activities and hotels/camp areas on the other hand, were quite easy.  But we only had $500 to spend a day. Here's a a quick peek of a slide.  My statement : This might help me with money when I grow up. B l o g y o u later .

Cybersmart Activity - Smart Relationships

Hey blogging world. On the Thursday of 28th September, we were talking about smart relationships all along. We used Google Maps to locate other clusters and schools.  The challenges were that polygons took us some time, so I only made too. The other thing was identifying 5 countries but instead only one other country (Which is United States) viewed my blog, so I asked my teacher if you can just identify cities. Here is the Google Maps and the tasks I had to do. Drawing link here . B l o g y o u l a t e r .

Cybersmart Activity - Netiquette

Hey there, you visiting my blog. On the Thursday of 21 st September we had a cybersmart activity. The cybersmart activity was about netiquette. Also known as digital-etiquette, netiquette mentions the same definition for etiquette but online. Netiquette also has something to do with informal and formal language. We used a  MindMup  to identify things for what are formal and informal, good and bad online. Here is a small presentation that shows about netiquette. Link : here   Challenges : My challenges were finding what netiquette really meant, and I had no clue. That was the only challenges I've got. Evaluation : I think it might be useful for commenting because formal might help the audience understand it. Netiquette might the word of cybersmart.

Minecraft Characters Using Google Sheets.

Image
Hi everyone. Today this post is going to be about some Minecraft Characters I made using Google Sheets, I am blogging this because I thought Google Sheets were just useful to work on. I had to learn how to use Google Sheets differently from what i was use to as i was creating a picture to make it fun. I was doing because it was for maths. To show how to make check this link here . The challenge was the 2nd character  in Google Sheets I was making. So I had the search engine to help get an image of it. I made two characters, a Steve with red eyes and a group of coloured slimes. Here are the characters I made in Google sheets. Reflection : Overall I want to make more characters. B l o g y o u later

Magical World of Crazy Science

Image
Hello there. On the the Monday of the 11 Sept there was a crazy science show of satisfaction and time-consuming fun. A show of chemistry and physics. It was an hour of fascination! It was presented by Richard and Robyn who come from Australia. What I learned is that a strip paper blown by air from humans flicks up because of air pressure. Also I learned the word, 'polymer', it means to turn liquid to solid, such as a substance found in nappies (That's why nappies absorb water or other type of liquid). Any other structure of polymer can do other  strange things , such as rubber being stretched as long as possible, it would not rip, instead, it will dash in a direction and might hurt one of your fingers. The most fascinating thing was that bubbles have a thickness of a millionth of a millimetre, which is much thinner than a flu virus, it is the most thinnest object that can be seen by a naked eye in the whole world. The reason you can see rainbow colours in bubbles is be

My poem about my camp trip

Image
Hey there, blogging world. In the last blog post was everything I've done at camp. This my poem about camp, I wrote before it happened, as you see in the title. I've chosen to write this because I have never experienced a camp before in a school. The information about camp is in the previous post but the poem is a rhyming poem. Here is my poem about camp. Difficulties / challenges : Colouring the poem was my hardest bet, because there wasn't much colouring pencil to get. The other one is drawing humans especially the one on the furthest left hand side. It's really squeezed and the gloves are also hard to draw. Reflection : Overall I like making these kind of poems so I can get better at identifying words that rhyme with one another.

Trip of a 4 day camp

Hey there, all of you. Last week the whole senior school from Waikowhai went to participate a four day camp spending time on Ruapehu and much more. Here is my presentation of things we've done at camp. Reflection : During camp it was fun because it wasn't just skiing and snowboarding, there was toboggan, Hamilton garden hunting and more. The dinner was absolutely scrumptious for me.  I learned how to ski, it was hard for me, especially with getting up and balancing. You had to walk sideways! I cannot control the sled in tobogganing. I get really anxious about sightseeing in chairlifts, so I try to look up. I really enjoy sliding down the snow after sightseeing is over. I think camp was the best experience I ever had with learning. Please feel free to comment. 😀

Maths Fun - Junior Playground Model

Image
Hey there! Today I made a model of the junior playground using Tinkercad. What's Tinkercad? It's explained in the screencastify. You don't need to pay for it, you just need to sign up, for free. But you must have an invite code to get approved and build a model. Here is some pictures and the screencastify. Feel free to comment and some questions.

Ako Hiko Student Led Toolkits

Image
Hey there, everyone. On the Thursday of 17th of August, I went to New Windsor School who were hosting the toolkits. The toolkits are a variety of subjects the person wanted to learn. They choose the toolkits in two sessions in a survey before the time. They must choose ONE in the two rows. They get a tag for what they chose in both sessions. We still had breaks which are Morning Tea and lunch. Some people present toolkits, telling people what the subject is and how to use it. The sessions are in a location, then in the second session it changes its original. Also in the survey you can't choose the same toolkit in both rows. My toolkits I chose to learn were... 'Stop Motion Animation' and 'Google Drawings / Google Sites'. The challenge was it was really time consuming and I couldn't really finish it. They were just files I will not need. Since I learned to make a Google Site, I could make a site of my learning, mountain inquiry. Two challenges also popped up

Ako Hiko Blog Commenting - Cybersmart Activity

Image
Hello there, everyone, young and old. On the Thursday of 10th August, some of the syndicate had a session of cyber smart. The teacher in cyber smart is Gerhard, he comes from the Ako Hiko Trust if you don't know. What Gerhard was teaching the syndicate what sentences start off well with positive, thoughtful and helpful comments in a Padlet. If you don't know what's a Padlet, it's a good one to share your ideas. Don't want to waste any more time, so here it is.  Reflection : Overall comments should have lots of effort put into it, so the author won't have to reply back in the way you did or delete it. The Padlet made me think of other sentences starters. The project was easy for the syndicate. Blog you later.

Maths Strand Creation Project

Image
Hey there, to you visiting my blog. On Thursday, which was yesterday, my school was creating a model only with toothpicks and Plasticine / Modelling clay. The ground material was cardboard. This task was a maths project, making a model of a tent. What we had to do was stick toothpicks with Plasticine to make a tent and also make sure it's stable. There were some challenges, especially when it came to cubes. But the fun factor was when pyramids made it stable. When I was doing that task I learnt a lot because one thing I learned is that it is difficult to put toothpicks inside Plasticine with a rather small volume, while on the other hand Plasticine big in size would shake the toothpicks which have a smaller density than the Plasticine. The shapes that I made were cubes and pyramids with bases square and triangular shaped. Plasticine was my problem because I fastened the toothpicks with Plasticine randomly big and small. It worked better when I used even amounts of Plasticine.

Digital Footprint Blog post project

Image
WALT or IALT to make a Digital Footprint Cyber-smart! Today Room 7 Waikowhai Primary (or myself) is learning how to make a digital footprint. A digital footprint is NOT a literal footprint. I mean the literal is when you walk on sand or wet concrete. But this footprint (digital) is data you leave behind online. Here is a google drawing of who i think will view mine and others blogs. Please feel free to comment.
